“Exposure” means AI can do or speed up a task. It does not mean the job disappears.

What to do next

Early in a career, the exposed tasks are often the ones people learn on. Learn the AI tools for them now and spend the time you save on the human-core skills.

AI-written summary: pending (no LLM key configured). These figures come only from the cited research data.

Method & sources

  • Tasks: O*NET task statements (US Dept. of Labor, CC BY 4.0), as published in the dataset below.
  • Exposure labels: Eloundou, Manning, Mishkin & Rock (2023), “GPTs are GPTs”. Each task is rated E0 (not exposed), E1 (an LLM alone can cut the time by half or more) or E2 (exposed with LLM-powered tools). Data (MIT).
  • Automation vs augmentation: Anthropic Economic Index (CC BY), the share of real Claude conversations per task that were directive or feedback-loop (automation) versus iteration, validation or learning (augmentation). Where a task has no Index data, we use the study's GPT-4 automation rating (T3/T4 = automatable).
  • Classes: E0 tasks count as human-core. Exposed tasks count as automatable when automation is at least 50%, otherwise as augmentable.
  • For broader, country-level context, see the ILO's generative AI and jobs studies (2023, updated 2025). We do not use ILO scores in the task numbers.
  • Seniority and industry personalise the guidance; they do not change the research figures. An AI-written summary will be added once an LLM key is configured.
